This six-month eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacant positions in this job class within the Department of Public Works of the County of San Diego.
The current vacancy for DPW Unit Manager is assigned to the Department of Public Works, Closed Landfill Management.
The overall purpose of the current vacant position is to manage the administrative functions of the County's Closed Landfill Management Program.
The ideal candidate for this current vacancy will have experience with a public utility, public agency enterprise fund, or managing solid waste sites (closed or open).
The ideal candidate will also have experience in the following areas:
Developing and managing operating budgetsManaging purchasing and contracting activitiesPerforming customer service Managing information systems for customer service, financial management, and asset managementDeveloping and administering policies, procedures, and regulationsPreparing written reports, memoranda, and lettersProject/program managementField/operations staff supervisionMinimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited U.
S.
college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in public administration, geography, business administration, engineering, surveying, accounting, or a closely related field, AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in analytical, administrative, professional engineering, surveying, or related work for a public works program, performing planning and analysis.
One (1) year of this experience must have been at the supervisory level.
Notes:
Positions in Field Surveying require a valid State of California Professional Land Surveyor's license.
Additional years of experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis; OR, completion of appropriate coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
For positions in Wastewater Management, possession of a valid certification by the State of California as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade IV or higher is highly desirable.
Possession of a valid certification by CWEA as a Collection System Grade 3 or higher is highly desirable.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
