Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision.I have experience performing simple maintenance tasks on engines and generators which includes spark plugs, fan belts, water pumps, and water hoses. Removing and disassembling diesel, gasoline, or multi-fueled engines. Troubleshooting and repairing the full range of major repair work on heavy duty mobile equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion. Repairing construction, industrial, and combat equipment.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Physical Effort:
The incumbent works in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, crouching and laying. Sometimes works on top of and under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 45 lbs, and often puts forth similar effort in pushing, pulling, turning, positioning, and adjusting parts, assemblies, equipment and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and/or lifting devices. Working Conditions:
Incumbent may work inside or outside. Inside, they are frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperature and loud noise. Outside, they may work in bad weather, in rain or snow, or in wet or dry areas. Incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from grease, oil, dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or surfaces. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns, bruises, strains and electrical shock while repairing, positioning, adjusting and moving equipment; and is exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids and lubricants. To reduce the dangers and irritations from the above conditions, the incumbent must follow numerous safety procedures, and wears equipment such as protective eye-glasses, ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, gloves and other protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods.
