Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Repair Inspector without more than normal supervision. Diagnose and repair a variety of equipment to include generators, material handling equipment, construction equipment, or passenger/commercial vehicles. Remove and install components of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Repair electrical, and braking systems. Read and interpret parts lists, manufacturers' repair manuals, diagrams, or electrical schematics. Review lower grade mechanic's work in regards to diagnosed and repaired equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Performs work which involves frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and working in awkward positions or cramped areas. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and lifts heavier items using jacks, hoists or helpers. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside and outside where it is drafty and noisy and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Employees must stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Occasionally, must crawl under vehicles and inspect while on hard, usually damp surfaces. Occasionally, works in adverse weather conditions. Dirt, dust, and grease are frequently present. Vehicle fluids, such as battery acids and hydraulic fluids may cause burns or irritate the skin. Personal protective gear is provided as needed.
